History

This corner of the Space Coast boasts a remarkably diverse heritage and a huge variety of activities for visitors to enjoy. Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse

Visit Florida’s tallest lighthouse. This 203 step, 175 ft beauty was completed in 1887 and offers stunning views over the surrounding coastline. Climb to the top for an amazing photo opportunity or explore the grounds and town of Ponce Inlet to drink in the atmosphere. The on-site museum will tell you all about this towering structure. Pop in daily between 10am-5pm.

Anderson-Price Memorial Building

Very little untouched early 20th Century architecture survives in the US, but this 1916 beauty is a rate example. Still used by the community, there’s plenty of history to glean from the building itself and exhibits inside. Don’t miss the grand ballroom!

Athens Theatre

One of only a handful of classic American theatres still functioning in Central Florida today, the Athens Theatre was built in 1921, inspired by Italian Renaissance architecture. Settle down and enjoy films, performances and concerts in this beautiful building.

“Bulow Ville” plantation

A troubling but essential part of American history, the ‘Burlow Ville’ plantation dates from 1821 and was destroyed in the Seminole Indian War. The ruins and open-air museum tell an important story.

The Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art

Explore Florida through watercolour and oil paintings at this gallery, which explores the region’s history using artworks dating back in 1839.

DeBary Hall Historic Site

Originally the hunting retreat of affluent steamboat line owner Frederick DeBary, this 1871 mansion has been restored to give visitors a unique glimpse into the world of wealthy 19th Century Florida.
