Journey into the chic heart of Florida, with an itinerary that highlights the best of the Gold Coast, the glittering beachfront that stretches from Fort Lauderdale north to Palm Beach and encompasses some of the most ritzy territory in the state. Start with a few days to get to know Fort Lauderdale, with beaches that rival the best of Miami and a city culture that includes fine dining, attractive shopping and a reputation as the ‘Venice of America’ from its many miles of canals and waterways. This is also a great place from which to visit the nearby Florida Everglades, and enjoy the magnificent natural side of the Sunshine State. Head north and enjoy a couple of days at the historic Boca Raton Resort and Club, a Waldorf-Astoria hotel but originally a 1926 masterpiece from renowned architect Addison Mizner. Boca’s reputation for elegant shopping and memorable restaurants is well deserved, while the Resort is a treasure in its own right. Next up, we feature two days to sample the laid-back Vero Beach style, based at the fabulous Costa d’Este Beach Resort and Spa of Gloria and Emilio Estefan before continuing on to Palm Beach and one of Florida’s genuine hotel gems. The Breakers was one of railroad baron Henry Flagler’s flagship properties along the east coast and it remains a beacon of high-class style and quality to this day, especially with its gorgeous location and proximity to all the many attractions nearby, including the swanky shopping of Worth Avenue and the essential history of the Flagler Museum, set in the tycoon’s former Gilded Age mansion.
